KWBG 01/30/20

BOONE, Iowa—The Salvation Army of Boone is excited to announce that The Salvation Army’s Chicago Staff Band will be coming to Boone on Saturday, February 22nd and will be performing a free concert for the community.

The Salvation Army’s Chicago Staff Band is a premier, all volunteer, concert brass band. Since its founding in 1907, the Chicago Staff Band has toured all around the world; including, the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Chile, Norway, and many more. The thirty-six-piece band is made up of Salvationists from all around the Chicago land area, who gather once a week to rehearse, and travel throughout the Midwest, performing concerts, one weekend per month.

“I am very excited that the Chicago Staff Band will be coming to Boone”, stated Lt. James Beardsley, corps officer for The Salvation Army in Boone. “We have been planning this wonderful event for over a year, and we’re excited that it is finally here.” Lt. Beardsley served as a member of the cornet section of the Chicago Staff Band from 2005 to 2009.

The Chicago Staff Band will not be the only group to perform at the “An Evening of Music” concert. The Boone High School Concert Band will be performing in this concert as well. In addition to providing a selection of music on their own, the finale of the concert will feature both the Boone High School Concert Band & The Chicago Staff Band performing three pieces together.

The concert with the Boone High School Concert Band & Chicago Staff Band will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Boone High School Auditorium on Saturday, February 22nd. There is no charge for this concert; however, tickets are required to attend. Those interested in getting their complimentary tickets should call The Salvation Army at 515-432-5770 starting on Monday, February 3rd.
