UNDATED, Iowa—Authorities have closed a portion of US Highway 30 between Jefferson and Grand Junction due to an accident involving a couple of semis and a third vehicle Monday morning. The accident, near Grand Junction has led the Iowa Department of Transportation to establish a detour, re-routing traffic to the north on Highway 4 from Jefferson and Greene County road P-33 near Grand Junction, to 170th Street.
One of the semi’s involved was a fuel transport with at least 8,000 gallons of fuel. There was a pretty substantial fire. Information from authorities indicates the fuel tanker was west bound on US Highway 30 and was struck by a semi with a livestock trailer. The impact apparently caused a third vehicle, a pickup to be involved. Authorities have reported that at least two-people were taken to Greene County Medical Center.
