BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Conservation Board will hold a regular meeting Monday at 6:00 PM in the first floor conference room at the Boone County Courthouse. The Conservation Board will have it’s routine meeting first and will follow with an open public forum on the Grant’s Woods Master Plan. The Master Plan was developed over four-years ago, with assistance from Snyder and Associates, after Harold Grant donated the property to Boone County. The property is on QF Lane and has connection to the High Trestle Trail.
Last year, Boone County Conservation moved forward with an important part to the Master Plan with the installation of a septic system. Earlier improvements included a trail access to the High Trestle Trail and some parking to try and alleviate traffic congestion on QF Lane. However, issues with the traffic on QF Lane as well as some of the activity on the High Trestle Trail, and the potential for development of the property donated by Grant, caused a number of residents to turnout and voice their concerns. Since then, the Conservation Board has decided to consider a re-design of the Master Plan.
The public is invited to comment or offer suggestions for the potential re-design of the Master Plan at the meeting Monday. The Board expects to begin taking those comments at 7:00 PM. The Board will also consider possible changes to regulations on the High Trestle Trail during the regular meeting.
Tanner Scheuermann, Executive Director for Boone County Conservation, says people with questions can contact the Conservation Office at Don Williams Recreational Area at 515-353-4237. Those wishing to see the Master Plan may use this link.
