The Boone Girls Basketball team is headed back to the 4A State Tournament in Des Moines after a “hold on” 60-53 win over Dallas Center Grimes Tuesday night in Boone. The Toreadors held a 47-28 lead after 3 quarters of play and saw it grow to as many as 21 in the 4th, but DCG was able to knock down some shots, used some Boone foul issues and cut it to a 4pt game late. Boone was able to knock down just enough free throws and hold on to the 60-53 win. The 6th ranked Toreadors were led by Caitlynne Shadle’s 26pts and got 14 from Claire Sandvig. Boone, at 22-1 will play in the State Tournament next Monday (or possibly Tuesday morning) The pairings will be out Wednesday night after the final 4A Regional Final is played (Pella/Grinnell)
