BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Planning and Development Department has rolled out its new Online Permitting program. Boone County Planning and Development Director Mike Salati, said the new service began Tuesday morning. This program will allow property owners, residents and contractors to apply for permits from their computers 24 hours a day 7 days a week. These online permit processes will allow applicants to apply for permits at their convenience and without having to come to the Courthouse during business hours.
This program is part of an overall effort to provide Boone County government services in a way that is responsive to the needs of the public. In today’s electronic age, using this technology will save time for applicants, keep administrative costs low and help the environment by bring government services toward a paperless electronic provision of services.
This program is a cooperative effort of many of Boone County Departments, including the Auditor’s Office, Engineers’ Office, the Internet Technology and Planning and Development Departments. The first parts of the program were rolled out Tuesday morning with the Septic Systems Permit and the 911 Address assignment request. Throughout the remainder of this year, additional permit services will be added increasing the usability for the public needing permitting services, increasing efficiency in our workforce and providing the services our constituents need, when they are needed.
