Community Development Block Grant Survey Begins This Weekend

Posted on 13 September 2018 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone City officials have been encouraging residents to participate in an upcoming survey that will collect information to be used in a Community Development Block Grant application for upcoming sanitary sewer projects.  The survey will be conducted by a firm retained by the city to prepare the application, Simmering and Cory.  Boone has worked with the firm before and has been successful in securing funding for some projects.  According to City Engineer Dan Scott, the better the participation, the better the chance of securing grant funding.

Scott released a letter explaining the process:

Attention Citizens of Boone

The City of Boone will be conducting an income survey throughout the City to determine eligibility of the City to apply for grant funds for future wastewater system projects. Survey crews from an independent, private firm will be conducting the survey on the following weekends:

September 15-16
September 22-23
September 29-30

The survey crews will have identification name badges with a City of Boone logo for security. Grant
funds would be able to help the City complete the projects needed, while limiting the impact on user
rates.

The survey should take only a couple minutes per home and will be kept confidential and does not need
to be signed. Information gathered by this survey will only be used for grant application purposes.
The City encourages residents contacted by the survey crew to assist with the process. It is critical that
the City have this information for the application for funding.

The cooperation of residents in completing the survey is greatly appreciated.
