Regarding the use of fireworks, just a reminder that the Code of Ordinances for Boone, Iowa states  fireworks may be used “December 31 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. (noon) and continuing through 12:30 a.m. on January 1st”.  (Chapter 41 Section 41.12)    

Lt. James Beardsley has announced that the Salvation Army reached their goal for the 2018 Red Kettle Campaign.  The goal was $34,000 and he was happy to announce they made just over $34,700.  Lt. Beardsley said “We are really appreciative for all of those who rang and for those who donated.”

The Santa Express trains finished with 11,428 riders this year.  Each train takes about 30 volunteers to operate smoothly and most had closer to 40 volunteers.  The riders hear the story of Santa’s Scenic Valley Ride, sing songs, drink hot chocolate and get a cookie.  The big event includes a visit from Santa himself.   […]
