BOONE, Iowa—New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand did make a visit to Boone Saturday on her first visit to Iowa since announcing her intention to seek the Democratic Presidential nomination. Gillibrand spoke to a large crowd at the Livery in Boone and talked about and responded to questions ranging from trade and tariff issues to the government shut down to Congressman Steve King.
Gillibrand said that the trade and tariff issues are hurting not only farmers but manufacturing as well. She also says the government shut down is hurting a very large number of employees and their families and the President doesn’t seem concerned about them. Gillibrand did say that since Congressman King has lost the support of his party leadership he should resign his seat and the let the people of the district select new representation.
