91st DMACC Boone Campus Commencement

BOONE, Iowa—The 91st Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Boone Campus Commencement was held Friday morning in the Boone Campus Gymnasium.  DMACC President Rob Denson was on hand and said that when the last DMACC graduation is held, over 2,500 students will have obtained over 3,000 degrees.  The Boone Campus had some 200 graduates this spring.  The commencement speaker was John Courter, the Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.  Courter, who was born and raised in Boone, is a DMACC graduate, receiving his A.S. Degree in 1985.  He went on the obtain a degree from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from Drake University Law School in 1991.  The Courter family has close ties to DMACC.  His mother, Sally Courter continues to serve on the DMACC Boone Campus Foundation and his father, the late Lloyd Courter was a long time member of the Board of Directors.  The Boone Campus Student Center, the L.W. Courter Center is named after him.
