BOONE, Iowa—The annual watermain flushing has begun in Boone. Public Works will conduct the flushing at fire hydrants in a set pattern the begins near a water tower then extends out like spokes on a wheel. This is a process that has been used for the past several years and will take most of the summer to complete. As usual, if you happen to see someone flushing a hydrant in your neighborhood, be aware that the activity could result in discolored water. It’s suggested run the water to allow it time to clear. In the past, the Water Department at City Hall has had a product available to help if laundry accidentally becomes discolored.
