BHS as Pilot for UNI Financial Literacy class

Posted on 21 May 2019 by KWBG

Over the next few years, high schools in Iowa will be required to have all students take a mandatory Financial Literacy class. Boone High School has been proactive in preparing our students for their future journey by offering this class over the last three years. This transition, however, will require them to offer a full semester class rather than a quarter class. This upcoming year will be a transition year for the High School, as it prepares for the full semester class.

Boone High School has been selected to pilot a high-quality financial literacy course offered through the University of Northern Iowa. This one-semester course will be offered to interested students in 2019-2020. The course includes an end of course exam component, and scoring a certain percentage on this exam allows a student to earn 3 credits from UNI.

This course isn’t mandatory but will satisfy the requirement for all sophomores and classes to follow that will need a financial literacy class.
