Last Dollar Scholarships Now Available At DMACC

Posted on 10 June 2019 by KWBG

ANKENY, Iowa—Funding for the new Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship, which Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced last week, will be available to qualified DMACC students on a first-come, first-served basis for the 2019-20 academic year.

The Last-Dollar Scholarship will cover tuition for qualified students in eligible DMACC programs that lead to high-demand jobs in Iowa. If other state and federal programs don’t cover the entire cost of tuition for a post secondary certificate, diploma, or associate degree, the Last-Dollar Scholarship will fill the gap.

“This is an amazing opportunity for financial aid to cover a student’s tuition,” said Rob Denson, President of DMACC. “Our current and prospective DMACC students who qualify will receive an outstanding education and pathway into many exciting and in demand careers.”

The Last-Dollar Scholarship will cover the tuition cost of dozens of DMACC certificate, diploma and degree programs such as Civil Engineering Technology, Cybersecurity, Tool & Diemaking, Building Trades and Healthcare, just to name a few.

To be eligible, new high school graduates must enroll full-time in a qualified program. Adult learners may enroll full or part-time. All students must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), attend orientation, meet with an adviser, remain continuously enrolled, and make satisfactory academic progress. Current high school graduates can receive the Last-Dollar Scholarship for up to five full-time semesters; adult learners, enrolled part-time, can receive eight part-time semesters. Qualified students will need to reapply each year.

Future Ready Iowa Last Dollar Scholarships are not income-based and more information will be forthcoming. All students, regardless of income status, should file the FAFSA as soon as possible to be in the best position to be eligible.
