Boone County Landfill to Shut Down end of June for Scale Maintenance

Posted on 11 June 2019 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Landfill Administrator, Lois Powers has announced plans to shut down the landfill operations the end of the month for a much needed scale replacement project.

According to Powers, a date has been set for the replacement of the scale at the Boone County Landfill.  The deck will need to be removed on Friday, June 28th.  Because of this the Landfill will be closing at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28th and will be closed on Saturday, June 29th.  They hope to have everything completed by Monday morning but we may need to make some adjustments on Monday morning.  (We will still open but may need to make adjustments like we do when the scale is down.)

Please be patient with us during this time.  We will do our best to keep you informed.  If you have a cell phone number you would like to provide us, we will send you a text as soon as we know how things will go Monday morning.  A list will be kept for those wanting this option.

Powers says we’ve been limping along hoping to make the current scale last as long as possible but the freeze/thaw this past winter makes our current scale deck unsafe if not taken care of as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office.  The Boone County Landfill number is 515-433-0591.
