BOONE, Iowa—Councilman BJ McGinn is announcing his intentions to seek re-election in November 2019 for City Council Second Ward in the city of Boone. Councilman McGinn is seeking his second term as Second Ward City Councilman.
Since his first election, Councilman McGinn, Director of Athletics for Des Moines Area Community College, has served as Chair of the Policy and Administration Committee and as a member of the City’s Economic Development Committee. McGinn has been involved in a number of projects throughout the City. Some of them include:
- Major infrastructure projects
- Joint Overpass Project with Boone County, DOT and Fareway Stores
- New housing incentives and development within his ward as well as the Garfield and Destiny Place Homes projects-50+ new homes in Boone this year
In addition to above, Councilman McGinn has been involved with recent Economic Development projects within the City of Boone. They include: The Boulder Inn and Suites Fareway Conference Center, Low to Moderate Income Alice Project, and the Midland Power Development.
McGinn is a member of the Boone Kiwanis, the Boone Chamber Ambassadors, The National Association of Collegiate Director’s of Athletics, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Councilman McGinn looks forward to continuing the relationships he has developed in his ward and throughout the City of Boone. His focus will be to represent his ward, move Boone forward, efficiently use tax dollars, and make Boone a great place to raise a family. McGinn resides in Ward 2 with his wife Jill and their daughter Sadie.
