BOONE, Iowa—Earlier this year, Boone City Administrator Bill Skare reported to the City Council that the city hall generator was in need of replacement. The mid-1970’s vintage generator was insufficient to meet the demands of the building and would not permit the city hall to be available as a viable building during any kind of emergency situation. So far, the old generator has been removed from city hall and a new protected platform as been constructed. As of Thursday, a new generator has arrived and over the next couple of weeks will be installed and tested. The project is estimated to cost just over $61,000.
