BOONE, Iowa—Tuesday election did have a number of offices that were expected to be filled with write-in votes. Today, the Boone County Auditor’s office released the unofficial tally.
Two positions were available on the Boone Park Commission. April Burch received 124 write-in votes, followed by Emily Coll with 100. Current Park Commissioners Taylor Tidgren and Brenda Wafful received 89 and 43 write-in votes respectively. Others receiving votes for Boone Park Commission were Jonathan Metcalf with 42 and Todd Rassmussen with 34.
Other write in races included the Berkley where Richard Bryant received 3-votes to 2 for Ken Gustin. The Berkley City Council was also write in. Teresa Bebbs received 4 votes, 3 each for Crystal Lambert and Marilyn Bryant, 2 each for Ken Gustin and Bob Johnson.
Jeff Paris led the way with 5 votes for Mayor in Fraser. For City Council in Fraser, Steve McClain and Amy Laube each received 10 votes, Julie Krause had 9, Bill Martin and Jeff Cook each received 6 votes.
The United School Board had one position filled by write-in, that was the District 1 board position. George Mosby received 28 votes followed by Kristin Zehner with 15 and Ross Harmon with 6.
Election results are unofficial until canvassed by the Boone County Board of Supervisors. The First Tier Canvass will be on November 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Boone County Courthouse. The race for the United School Board will not be determined until a completion of the Second Tier Canvass which will include the canvassed results from Story County. The schedule for the Second Tier Canvass is pending.
