BOONE, Iowa—This year’s Wreaths Across America ceremony for Boone County will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Veterans Monument in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. The public is encouraged to participate and also participate in the placement of wreaths on the graves of veterans.
Originally, Richelle Bergeson said Boone County would be receiving nearly 1,300 wreaths for this year. However, Wreaths Across America and Fremont Contract Carriers, the trucking company that delivers Wreaths Across America, doubled the number of wreaths delivered to Boone County. With nearly 2,600 wreaths Bergeson says a lot of help will be needed to place the wreaths at cemeteries in Boone County. She says those that wish to help should please come to the service and dress appropriately for the weather. With nearly 2,600 wreaths, it may take more than a day to complete placing wreaths on the grave sites of veterans, so any volunteer help will be appreciated.
Originally wreaths were expected to be delivered earlier in the week with the ceremony scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. That coincides with the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
