BOONE, Iowa—Boone County volunteers placed 2,664 wreaths at 9 local cemeteries in 2019 and now is the time to retire those wreaths. Volunteers are needed to help Saturday as wreaths will be removed from four of those cemeteries. Richelle Bergeson recently posted on the Boone County Iowa Wreaths Across America Facebook page that volunteers should meet Saturday morning at 9:00 at the Veterans Memorial in the Linwood Park Cemetery for the respectful retirement of the remembrance wreaths.
Bergeson posted that volunteers should bring broom handles, garden wagons, tarps, or rope which will aid in getting wreaths to the roads. She added that pickups and trailers will be needed to collect and transport the wreaths. Bergeson also noted that people should dress for the weather and handling wreaths. Gloves are recommended.
