BOONE, Iowa—Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg were in Boone, holding a town hall meeting to promote the “Invest in Iowa” Act proposed by the Governor. The “Invest in Iowa” Act would raise the state sales tax and would use the proceeds for water quality initiatives and lower other taxes through a tax cut and providing funding for mental health, reducing the reliance on property taxes for mental health services at the local level. Reynolds said she hears a lot of comments about the effort not meeting the intent of the constitutional measure approved in 2010. She also is encouraging supporters of the effort to make sure their elected officials are aware of their position.
