County Board of Consider Permit for Wind Farm

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Adjustment will hold an electronic teleconference meeting Thursday afternoon which will include consideration of a Conditional Use Permit for a proposed wind farm to be located in northern Boone County and southern Hamilton County.  Apex Clean Energy/Great Pathfinder Wind, LLC is requesting the permit to allow for the construction of a Commercial Utility Wind Energy System that will contain 37 turbines in Boone County as well as a substation and a permanent meteorological tower in northern Boone County.

Apex Clean Energy located an office in Stratford as a base for this particular project which is located southeast of the community.  The southern edge of the project area is roughly six miles north of Boone.  Documents made available to Boone County Planning and Development can be found on the Boone County website.
