BOONE, Iowa—The current coronavirus pandemic has not held up construction on the DMACC Boone Campus Student Activity Center. In fact, mild weather conditions this spring has allowed construction to move ahead quickly.
The $6.5 million project includes two college-size basketball / volleyball courts. These courts also contain 3 40’ X 70’ baseball / softball batting cages that drop down from the fieldhouse ceiling. The new student activity center also contains a state-of-the-art weight room designed by Powerlift, a contemporary sports medicine lab, an indoor golf performance center, storage space, office settings, and a family room.
DLR Architects and Baxter Construction said they are on schedule to complete this project by this coming September. The gym and weight room flooring have already been ordered for the facility.
