BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 63 year old Debra Pearl Roberts of Boone, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Boone on Sunday, June 7, 2020.
She was born on January 19, 1957 in Boone, the daughter of Ray and Alberta (Taylor) Stumbo.
On September 26, 1981 Debra married John Roberts at the Central Christian Church in Boone. She was an administrative assistant at the Woodward Resource Center for 40 years. Debra was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church in Boone.
Debbie had a huge and generous heart. She gave so much love to her family. She took great care not to ever miss anyone’s birthday, no matter how old they grew to be. She loved card stamping, working on crafts, and dancing with her beloved husband.
Deb always referred to her son Nick as her miracle baby. He was her world! A very important part of Deb’s life was being a “Dance Momo” to Taylor. Make-up, hair and costume – she was on it! Watching Taylor dancing front and center brought her such joy and happiness.
Deb played catcher for the Eagle-ettes softball team; was a champion shopaholic; enjoyed pet grooming, camping and gardening. An active Face-booker, she could be found at any and all hours posting.
She made it well-known to all, that the love of her life was John. They’ve spent their lifetime together. 38 years with the man ALWAYS and FOREVER in her corner, always putting her first. Two peas in a pod, John was her rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alberta Jones; Ray and Vivian Stumbo; Brother in law Joe Roberts; 3 infant siblings: Jimmie Ray, Jerome Anthony and Sharon Kay; Grandparents: Pearl and George Taylor, Marjorie Stumbo, and Sidney and Mae Stumbo.
Survivors include her husband John Roberts of Boone, IA; Son Nick (Kristi) Roberts of Pocahontas, IA; Granddaughters: Taylor Charlise and Kaitlynn Marie of Pocahontas, IA; Sisters: Karen (David) Wright of Rapids City, IL and Rae Ann Clark of Boone, IA; Nieces: Jodi Welder of Iowa City, IA and Julie Machovsky of Rapids City, IL; Nephews: Jeffrey Welder of Ashland, OR; Jordan Welder of Fitchberg, WI; Bobby Ahrens of Pana, IL; Charles Roberts of Marion, IA; Joe Roberts of Rancho Cucamongo, CA; and Blake Machovsky of Marion, IA; Sisters in law: Kathy Ahrens of Ogden, IA and Sunisa Roberts of Las Vegas, NV; Aunts: Patricia Taylor and Mary Haglund both of Boone, IA; Uncle Jim Stumbo of OR; cousins: Pam Taylor Foster of Boone, IA and Larry Stumbo of Des Moines, IA; as well as many additional cousins, friends, and her beloved fur babies.
A memorial service will be held on Friday June 12, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Central Christian Church in Boone with Pastor Michael Carlson officiating. Those who are going to attend are asked to please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Memorials in Debra’s name are suggested to the family to be used at their discretion.
