BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Community School District and the Activities Department emphasize their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment. Because of that, Superintendent Dr. Brad Manard announced Friday afternoon that the District is aware one of their coaches has entered a self-quarantine period due to contact with an individual that tested positive for COVID-19.
In the release, Manard noted: Today, we became aware that a baseball coach has been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. Neither this person nor our coach have shown any symptoms. Following the guidelines provided by the Department of Education, IHSAA, and Boone County Public Health, the coach has entered into a 14-day period of self-quarantine through June 26.
There is no cause for additional concern as the coach has not tested positive for the virus, and our program has done an excellent job of taking the proper precautions and following state guidelines to provide a safe and healthy environment.
The rest of the coaching staff will continue to provide leadership to our baseball team during this coach’s absence.
