BOONE, Iowa—LifeServe Blood Center continues to remind people that even with the coronavirus pandemic, it’s still important to continue supporting local community blood drives. The impact of the COVID-19 led to the cancellation of about 500 blood drives over the past several months, primarily because businesses or groups that sponsored such events were unable to do so. However, LifeServe has continued to work at meeting the increasing demand for blood and blood products. Another community blood drive is set for Boone on Friday, June 26th and another scheduled for Ogden on July 6th. Because of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions, appointments are mandatory and can be made online at www.lifeservebloodcenter.org, call 800-287-4903 or text LIFESERVE to 999-777. Walk-in donations can not be accepted at this time.
