On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 441 new cases of coronavirus in our state, an increase from the 297 COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday. Iowa has now had nearly 26,000 cases of coronavirus, which have resulted in 685 deaths: 1 in Saturday’s update and 4 on Sunday, with 1 this weekend in Polk County and another in Dallas County. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 131 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County for a total of 5,498, 89 in Story for 467, 11 in Hamilton for 159, 10 in Dallas for 1,072, 10 in Webster for 120, 1 in Greene for 28, and 10 in Boone County for 117 overall. Statewide, there are 170 patients currently hospitalized for COVID-19, but over 16,000 Iowans have recovered, including 60 in Boone County. For the 1 in 12 Iowans who have been tested for coronavirus, the infection rate has dropped to 10.1%.
