PLANO, Iowa—A funeral service has been set for 69 year old Ronald Deane Leininger of rural Plano, Iowa, formerly of Boone, Iowa. Ronald passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at his home.
Friends may call from 4-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery north of Boone. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Born on January 13, 1951 in Boone, Ron was the son of Lawrence and Arlene (Peters) Leininger. He grew up on the family farm north of Boone and attended South Hamilton Schools. Ron was united in marriage to Sherry McCaskey. She passed away in 1998. Together they had two sons. He was later married to Penny Cundiff on July 24, 2004 on their front porch in Boone. Ron was on over-the-road truck driver. He then drove overnights for Fareway. He and Penny moved to rural Plano, where Ron has still been working as a farmer.
In his free time, Ron enjoyed bowling and playing Texas Hold ‘em two or three times per week. He loved fishing, especially at his pond on the farm.
Ron is survived by his wife, Penny of rural Plano; his sons: Todd (Michelle) Leininger of Olathe, KS, and Justin (Jessica) Leininger of Elizabethtown, KY; his stepchildren: Shawn (Connie) Sheldon of Maple Valley, WA, Daniel (Krista) Sheldon of Cedar, IA, and Becky Rouw of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren: Zachary Leininger, Kallie Leininger, Sherry Leininger, Jack Sheldon, Colton Sheldon, Legend Sheldon, and Brooke Rouw; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Sherry.
