BOONE, Iowa—The Pufferbilly Days Steering Committee is happy to announce Sally Courter as Grand Marshall for the 2020 Pufferbilly Days Parade.
Sally Courter was born and raised in Cedar Rapids. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a double major – Psychology & Education. After having taught in Cedar Rapids, she then got married and moved to Boone. She has spent a lifetime involved in education, first as a 1st & 2nd grade combined teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, and more recently as a member of DMACC’s Foundation Board for twenty years. She has always believed in volunteering and has enjoyed being a Tour Guide at the B&SVRR for thirty-four years, an organization where she also served as Board President. (To this day, she is the only female B&SVRR President). For thirteen years she served as the Chair for the Information Booth during Pufferbilly Days™ celebrations. Today, she is a current member of the Boone County Historical Society and remains an active volunteer at the B&SVRR. We are thrilled to have Sally as our Grand Marshall this year.
The 2020 Pufferbilly Days™ Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 12th, at its usual Hancock Drive location. It will make its way north on Story Street into downtown Boone, before heading west on 8th Street. Pufferbilly Days™ runs from September 11th through the 13th.
