BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call Tuesday morning shortly after 8:00 about an accident involving a motorcycle that collided with a tractor.  The Sheriff’s Department reported that the accident occurred in the Des Moines River Valley on U.S. Highway 30 at “L” Avenue.  The tractor, operated by 66-year old Gary Riesberg of Manning, Iowa was on Highway 30, attempting to cross over to the east bound lanes when the tractor was struck by a motorcycle 21-year old Joseph McFarland of the Ogden-Boxholm area in Boone County.  McFarland was traveling east when he struck the tractor.  He died as a result of his injuries.  The investigation is continuing and citations are pending.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Boone County Ambulance, the Ogden Fire Department and the Ogden Police Department.
