DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service in Des Moines continues to monitor the next weather system that will bring possible strong thunderstorms to the area tonight. They caution that ongoing recovery and clean-up efforts should closely monitor the weather. While the strongest storms are not expected to occur where Monday’s derecho caused damage, risk of personal injury could still occur even with sub-severe thunderstorm winds, which may further damage buildings and might cause broken tree limbs hanging in trees to fall. Additional power outages are also possible.
