BOONE, Iowa—Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate serving Boone, Greene and Guthrie Counties has been awarded a very generous donation of $525 from Fareway Stores, Inc. staff to assist in our mission to eliminate poverty housing and fulfill Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Individuals were able to wear jeans to work in exchange for a donation to Habitat for Humanity. In addition to the monetary gift, Fareway also provided physical labor to build a shed for our 2020 partner family.
In addition to Fareway, local volunteers have been hard at work every Thursday and Saturday to complete our Habitat affiliate’s 29th home amid the Coronavirus. Although this year has certainly been a challenge, the house is really starting to take shape.
Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity in Boone is currently searching for a partner family willing to work alongside Habitat volunteers for a home build in 2021. In addition to investing their own sweat equity into the home, families are able to purchase an efficient and attractive home for less than the cost of renting. If you or someone you know could benefit from improving their living situation and providing a better life for themselves and their family, head to our website at www.heartofiowahabitat.org to check out qualifying questions and to download our application. You can also call our office at 515-432-1168 or email Lindsay at ad@heartofiowahabitat.org with any suggestions or questions about the program.
