BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Auditor’s office has released it’s formal announcement about the upcoming general election, including a sample ballot.
NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION AND OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION
I, Philippe E. Meier, Commissioner of Elections for Boone County, Iowa, do hereby certify that this is a facsimile of the ballot to be voted at the General Election, Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, in Boone County, Iowa.
Precinct Count will be used for all precincts in the county. Public testing of the precinct count equipment was held at 9:00 AM on October 13th and at the Boone County Courthouse.
This sample ballot is of the first rotation in the county and lists candidates within this particular legislative area for the 47th State Representative District.
However, in those precincts of the county within the 48th State Representative District the candidates’ names will appear correctly in their respective precincts as follows:
Madrid Wards 1, 2 & 3.1 (excluding 3.2), Rural Precinct 1 (Colfax and Garden Townships, and the part of City of Sheldahl within Boone County), and Rural Precinct 6 (Dodge, Harrison and Jackson Townships):
For State Representative, 48th District: Democrat – Jack Friend; Republican – Robert Bacon
All township offices will be shown in the correct precinct within their area.
The polls will be open at all voting precincts in the county on Central Standard Time; all precincts are now under permanent registration, and the voting hours will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. as now provided by statute.

Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle. For further information, please contact the county auditor’s office at 515-433-0502.
This proclamation is given in compliance with the provision of the Code of Iowa, Chapters 49 and 49.53 and 49.73.
For elections held in 2020, pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a ballot. Identification which has expired in calendar year 2020 will be considered valid for the purpose of the election.
Voters who are not pre-registered will also be required to provide proof of residence.
A voter who cannot provide proof of identification may have their identity attested to by another voter registered in the precinct who has an approved form of identification. For more information about voter ID, visit http://sos.iowa.gov/voterid.
A person who is eligible to register to vote and vote, may register on election day by appearing in person at the polling place for the precinct in which the individual resides. The voter must complete a voter registration application, make written oath and provide acceptable proof of identity and acceptable proof of residence. Acceptable documents which can be used as proof of identity and proof of residence are very specific and substitutes will not be accepted.
