Crop Marketing Strategies Meetings in Central Iowa Begin in Ogden

Posted on 27 October 2020 by KWBG

ALTOONA, Iowa—With summer weather problems, crop futures prices rallied contra-seasonally, putting in harvest futures price highs. Most producers are storing some unpriced bushels despite the lack of futures price carry. To address these crop marketing strategy issues, three different ag marketing club meetings, in addition to a live webinar, are planned the week of Nov. 16.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting three Central Iowa Ag Marketing Club meetings in mid-March, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and doors opening at 6 p.m.

  • Monday, Nov. 16, 6:30 p.m., Ogden Community Center, 114 SW 8th St.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17, 6:30 p.m., Grinnell Key Co-op, 1128 Pinder Ave.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m., Grundy Center Community Center, 705 F. Ave.

The featured speaker will be Steve Johnson, ISU Extension farm management specialist, presenting on:

  • Current corn and soybean supply/demand and price outlook
  • Local basis trends & futures price carry
  • Cost of grain ownership
  • Crop marketing strategies, tools, and market planning.

Pre-registration is required for these meetings by contacting the host County Extension office.

For those unable to attend an in-person meeting, a free, one-hour live webinar will be available on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Featured presenters will be Iowa Farm Bureau’s Ed Kordick and Steve Johnson.

Pre-registration is required for this webinar using this link: http://bit.ly/agdmnov20.
