BOONE, Iowa—Last month, Iowa Workforce Development released the September unemployment numbers and saw the state drop to a rate of 4.7% down from 6% in August. Last week, the individual county rates were released and Boone County say and unadjusted decline from August to September of 1.7% dropping from 4.7% to 3%. Similar declines were reported in neighboring counties. Story County declined to 2.8% from 4.4% in August. Greene County was at 4.7% in August and had a September rate of 3.1%.
Polk County had a big decline going from 7.3% in August to 5.2% in September. Dallas County was 4.4% in August and 3.1% in September. Hamilton County dropped from 5.2% to 3.6% and Webster County went from 6.1% to 4.2%.
