BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 50 year old Louise Gail Onken of Boone, Iowa. She passed away at her home, Monday, December 21, 2020. She was born on February 26, 1970, in Ames, Iowa the daughter of Norm Lyon and Judy (Briggie) Denato.
Louise graduated from Ballard High School in 1988, and then attended Iowa State University. She worked at Helping Hands Veterinary Clinic in Boone as a Vet Assistant where she was able to show her love for animals, especially cats.
Louise was a member of the Civic Center, where she enjoyed going to musicals. She loved music, attending live concerts, and also loved movies, especially Disney movies. Traveling was something that Louise enjoyed. She loved going to her nieces and nephews’ activities and loved watching them grow into young adults.
Louise was a very loving person who was always willing to help with whatever was needed. She trusted in God’s plan for her, and it was time for her to be rewarded for remaining faithful to it.
Louise was preceded in death by her father Norm Lyon; and both sets of grandparents.
Survivors include her mother Judy (Jim) Denato of Ames, IA; stepmother Becky Lyon Aspengren of Boone, IA; sister Lynette Peterson of Jefferson, IA; and step-sister Melissa Jacobson of Riverside, IA; Nieces and Nephews: Hannah, Victoria, and Chance Peterson of Jefferson, IA; Emily Gray of Sloan, IA; Nathan and Carrie Jacobson of Riverside, IA; Aunts: Edie (Rod) Samuelson of Johnston, IA, and Joann (Dick) Sargent of Fountain Hills, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Boone Area Humane Society.
Due to COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
