Arnold “Arnie” Anderson

BOONE, Iowa—Arnold “Arnie” Dean Anderson, age 65, of Boone, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arnie was born January 6, 1955 in Boone, Iowa to Ralph and Charlotte (Jackson) Anderson. He graduated from United Community High School in 1973. Later in 1973, he joined the United States Army, where he served 6 years in the Military Police Battalion, during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the Army, he was a part time police officer in Ogden, Iowa.

In October 1986, he was united in marriage to Sheri Porter and they made their home in Boone, where they raised their two children, Wendy and step-son Ryan. He worked many years at Iowa State University as an HVAC Engineer and Mentor.

Arnie enjoyed the company of others where he could exchange stories and shoot the breeze. He was always looking forward to receiving phone calls and pictures from his grandchildren, that he proudly displayed on his walls at home. Arnie also enjoyed receiving daily phone calls from his step-son, Ryan. Christmas was his favorite holiday, he always made sure that he went above and beyond to create great memories for those close to him. Arnie looked forward to playing Santa at the Iowa State University Daycare for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Anderson.

Arnie is survived by his wife, Sheri Anderson; daughter, Wendy (Erik) Marcum; stepson, Ryan (Sarah) Claussen; grandchildren, Clare and Dylan; mother, Charlotte Anderson; siblings, Dick (Geri) Anderson, Alana Russell, and Darrell Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Arnie’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
