Boone County Public Health Awaiting Next Vaccine Allotment

Posted on 19 January 2021 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—A number of Boone County residents have been anxious to find out when they will be able to get their COVID-19 vaccination.  To help provide information, a webpage has been established on the Boone County Hospital’s website.  A special phone number has also been established to allow residents to call and receive the latest information about available vaccine and scheduling opportunities for clinics.  That number is (515) 433-8299 (VAXX).  Unfortunately any calls right now will probably get a recorded message that says no vaccine is available.  Dr. Brian Mehlhaus noted during Monday evenings Boone County Board of Health meeting that the county level is at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to make decisions making the vaccines available.  He said it starts at the Federal Level, then to the Iowa Department of Public Health before getting to county public health officials.

Boone County Public Health Director Debi Pestotnik did pass along information from the Iowa Department of Public Health released last Friday.
