Family Displaced by Fire

BOONE, Iowa—A Boone family has been displaced by a Thursday night house fire.  Fire Chief Justin Adams released this information Friday morning:

At approximately 9:14pm the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 320 12th street in Boone for a reported kitchen fire. The on duty crew was on scene with in a few minutes and began fire attack on a working fire.

The fire which originated in the kitchen was extinguished quickly and overhaul was completed with no extension of the fire. Crews were on scene for just under 2 hours ventilating the structure and assisting with pets and personal goods removal.

There was significant fire damage to the kitchen, with heavy smoke damage to the entire house. There is an estimate $30,000 in damages. There was one subject evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation, with no further treatment required and no other injuries are reported. There were several pets in the residents which were brought to safety. The family is currently displaced from the residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Boone Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Hospital Ambulance, Boone Police Department, Boone County Emergency Management and the Salvation Army.
