On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 286 new cases of COVID-19, less than half of the number reported on Saturday. Iowa has now had more than 370,000 coronavirus cases, 2,647 of those in Boone County. No additional COVID-19 deaths occurred on Sunday, so the pandemic total remains at 5,633, with 30 in Boone County. Over a million Iowans have been vaccinated against coronavirus; 8,448 doses have been given in Boone County alone, with 3,024 residents receiving two doses, 2,346 beginning the two-dose series, and 97 getting the one-dose shot. Greater than 324,000 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19, including 2,338 in Boone County, where the seven-day positivity rate has dropped a percentage point in the last week to 3%.
