Virginia Mae Wilson

BOONE, Iowa—Virginia Mae Wilson “Grandma Gin”, age 95 of Boone and formerly of Pilot Mound, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 of “old age”.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. A memorial service will follow visitation at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 26, 2021. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed on Gin’s Tribute Wall on the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel’s website. Burial will be in Pilot Mound Cemetery.

Her parents were George Hagaman and Mae Carrie (Crandell) Hagaman.

She died at home with her niece/daughter, Anitalee Eschliman, granddaughter and grandson, Mystique and Kevin Maines, and their kids, Brenna Mae and Atticus Harold Maines.

She joined in heaven her husband, Larry Wilson; aunt, Dorothy Germer- 100 years old; siblings, Flora E. Hagaman Clark and Dick Clark, Frank O. Hagaman and Lois Ann, Harold J. Hagaman Sr. and Mae E. Frieberg Hagaman, Ilene Evonsky Hagaman, George J. Hagaman and Betty Hagaman, Helen R. Hagaman Day and Robert Day; special nephew/son, Harold J. Hagaman “Sonny”; step-son, Max Wilson; dad, George Hagaman in May of 1932; mother, Mae Carrie (Crandell) Hagaman on March 27, 1949; and her loving dog, Ninja Baby.

She is missed by daughter/niece, Anitalee Eschliman of Boone; step-daughters, Angela Collins of Ankeny and Peggy James of Colorado; step-sons, Larry (Tiny) Wilson of Texas; special niece/granddaughter and grandson, Mystique Maines and Kevin Maines; grandkids, Brenna Mae and Atticus Maines, all of Boone; along with many more nieces, nephews, and grandkids.

She worked as a phone operator, National Tea Co., and Archway Cookie Co. After her mom passed away, Virginia and Helen lived with Mae and Harold Hagaman and their kids, Sonny and Anitalee.

She loved to play Skip Bo and Dominos with family and friends, put together puzzles, crochet, and embroidery. Time with Larry was spent dancing, going on many trips, car rides, and deer hunting. She loved getting her hair done by Pam Schroeder for over 30 years.

She was a positive, loving, devoted, and caring to all she knew. She made the best of her life and blessings. Miss you, Grandma Gin.
