Sunday’s COVID-19 numbers mostly lower

The Iowa Department of Public Health has identified eight COVID-19 deaths in the twenty-four period that ended at 10:00 on Sunday morning.  That number brings our state’s pandemic total to 5,857 coronavirus deaths, with 31 of those occurring in Boone County.  Now 469 new cases of COVID-19 were also reported, which is a decrease of 147 from the number reported on Saturday.  Iowa has had more than 385,000 coronavirus cases, 2,745 of those in Boone County.  However, over 1.7 million Iowans have been vaccinated against COVID-19; 14,393 doses have been given in Boone County alone.  Greater than 337,000 Iowans have recovered from coronavirus, including 2,443 in Boone County, and our seven-day positivity rate has dropped one percentage point in the last seven days to 4%.
