Almost 2 million Iowans vaccinated

The Iowa Department of Public Health has identified three COVID-19 deaths in the twenty-four period that ended at 10:00 on Sunday morning.  That number brings our state’s pandemic total to 5,881 coronavirus deaths, with 33 of those occurring in Boone County.  Also reported were 706 new cases of COVID-19, which is a sharp increase of 591 from the amount reported on Saturday.  Iowa has had more than 389,000 coronavirus cases, 2,775 of those in Boone County.  However, over 1.9 million Iowans have now been vaccinated against COVID-19; 15,941 doses have been given in Boone County alone.  Greater than 340,000 Iowans have recovered from coronavirus, including 2,463 in Boone County, where our seven-day positivity rate remains for the second week in a row at 4%.
