BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are set for 83 year old Harold Kline of Boone, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home on his acreage, as he always wanted it to be.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Harold Laverne Kline was born on June 30, 1937, the son of Frank W. and Grace B. (York) Kline in Boone. He grew up living in between Paton and Boxholm, attending Boxholm Elementary School. The Kline family later moved to Ridgeport, attending Boone Community Schools.
Harold was united in marriage with Elaine Collins on September 10, 1960 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Shortly after marriage, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Bliss, TX for 2 years before his honorable discharge.
Harold and Elaine had a daughter Vaughn, and son, Rod. Harold loved his children and later in life, his grandchildren with all his heart. Enjoying every minute of the holidays and family dinners.
Harold worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 38 years. He was a Field Supervisor in the Road Design division until his retirement in June of 1995.
Harold loved to go pheasant hunting, behind his dog, Abby, who would get him the rooster 95 percent of the time, along with fishing. He talked about his Canadian walleye trips often. He was an avid gardener, maintaining his rose bushes and planting trees across his acreage. Even with 70 acres of land, Harold managed to keep it in tip top shape like a park.
Harold was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Boone and had a strong faith in God. He was also a member of the NRA and Pheasants Forever.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and 9 siblings. He is survived by Elaine Kline of Boone; daughter, Vaughn (Brett) Vinchattle of Boone; and a son, Rod (Julie) also of Boone, grandchildren, Tyler Vinchattle, Lee Vinchattle, Amy Vinchattle, Carly (James) Nichols, Alex (Melissa) Vinchattle, Christina Vinchattle, and Travis (Whitney) Kline; great-grandchildren, Ian Kline, Wren and Lane Nichols, Georgia Vinchattle and Aiden Vinchattle; and brother, Don Kline.
