Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. The Moore family will be honoring Eli by attending a NASCAR race close to his birthday. Eli would want everyone to experience what he dreamed of experiencing.
Elijah Clayton Moore was born on July 12, 1996 in Boone, the son of Jeffrey and Suzanne (Twogood) Moore. Eli was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, not expected to survive into his teenage years, but was a fighter from day one! He would fight to live over the years and loved every second of his life. He had his first surgery at 10 days old at UIHC and endured numerous procedures and hospitalizations throughout his short life but always bounced back to be a loving happy Eli.
Eli loved NASCAR racing but his favorite part was the national anthem and prayer before the race. No matter what he was doing, Eli would stop and focus on the national anthem when played. He found comfort in his Kindle and Videonow. He loved watching all the Disney sing along movies, some of his other favorite shows were Bear in the Big Blue House, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Winnie the Pooh. Eli found it funny when Tigger bounced Eeyore. He loved ice water, each time shaking his cup to see if there was ice. If not, he would let you know and make you take it back. Eli was a happy kid but he hated one thing, that was the word “no”. Jeff and Sue learned how not to use the word but tell Eli what they wanted him to do instead. Eli loved music and you could get him to do almost anything if you sang to him. He thought everyone had a beautiful voice!
His family was able to keep Eli happy and comfortable at home with the help of many wonderful nurses that became part of the family.
Eli was preceded in death by his grandpa, George “Sonny” Moore and grandma, Carolyn Twogood. He is survived by his devoted and loving parents, Jeff and Sue Moore of Boone; sisters, Jessica (Johnny) Blocker of Red Oak and Melani (Daniel) Breach of Spring Hill, Tennessee; brothers, Zachery (Amanda) Moore of Fort Dodge and Tyler Moore of Boone; grandma, Donna Moore of Burkley; grandpa, Dennis Twogood of Des Moines; aunts and uncles, Linda (Jim) Hein, Connie (Gerry) Magner, Denise (Dennis) Songer, Jennifer Lansman (Joel Knepper) and Derek (Jeorjette) Twogood; his cousins, Derek, Darin , Josiah, Tahisha, Danielle, Brent “Bubba”, Gianna, Rosie, Derek “Bubba“; along with many nieces and nephews.
