PILOT MOUND, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 66 year old David Daniels of Pilot Mound, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Accura Healthcare of Ogden after a battle with health complications.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, west of Boone.
David Leroy Daniels was born on April 26, 1955 in Stockton, CA, the son of Milton McKinley and Etta Mae (Allen) Daniels. He lived in the Boone area most of his life and attended Boone High School.
David was baptized as a young adult at Augustana Lutheran Church. David was a simple man. He enjoyed his family, loving his grandchildren and great-grandson, Eden. David embraced the outdoors, fishing anywhere and for anything, rock hunting and was pretty excited to use his new metal detector but became to ill to experience it. He had some fun at casinos occasionally as well- Wild Rose, Prairie Meadows or Meskwaki Bingo Casino were the go-to places.
David worked as a cook, most recently at Colorado Grill in Boone. He was a kitchen manager up until his health issues arose and he had to quit working. He enjoyed hanging out with some buddies to get out of the house when he wasn’t working.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Milton Daniels; brother, Charles “Chuck” Daniels; and sister, Pam Southworth. He is survived by his mother, Etta Mae Daniels of Pilot Mound; daughter, Tanna (Mike) Dawson of Kimball, NE; step-sons, Jason Lewis of WY and Justin Lewis of Boone; grandchildren, Destinee Godwin of Boone and Marissa, Katelyn and Samuel; his joy, his great-grandson, Eden Hollingshead; brothers, Larry Daniels of Pilot Mound, John Daniels of Boone and Mark Daniels of Vancouver, WA; sisters, Cindy Cummings of Pilot Mound and Crystal, Carrie, both of Vancouver, WA; along with many extended relatives.
