BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 65 year old Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Harris of Boone, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Unity Point-Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall Streets in Boone. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Linwood Park Cemetery. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Born September 4, 1955 in Fairfax, Missouri, Ronnie was the son of Robert and Katherine “Kitty” (Duffield) Harris. They later moved to Boone where Ronnie graduated from Boone High School in 1974.
Following high school, Ronnie did construction work and worked for the railroad before being his career with the school system. He first worked at the high school as a janitor, later becoming the janitor at Page Elementary School. He took great pride in his job at the school. He loved the kids that came through the school and often followed their activities through graduation.
Ronnie had a huge heart and would spend time feeding and taking care of wild and stray animals. He enjoyed feeding squirrels or any other animals that may wander into his yard. Ronnie enjoyed playing slow-pitch, bowling and country dancing in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved to be around people or playing jokes. Ronnie was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Ronnie is survived by a sister, Brenda (Phil) Hoffman of Boone; a sister-in-law, Nora Harris of Boone; nieces and nephews: Tiffany (Jack) Scott, Tiana Springer, Jason (Sara) Mallicoat, Matt (MiKayla) Harris, Justin Harris (Emily Leonard); many great-nieces and nephews; an uncle; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Yvonne Anderson and Donnie Harris.
