BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been updated for 75 year old Arthur A. Eppert of Boone, Iowa and Mesa, Arizona. He passed away on March 4, 2021 at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Squire Boone Cemetery, Worth Township, Boone. A Celebration of Art’s Life will be held from 12:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Art’s home, 420 W 22nd Street, Boone, IA, 50036.

Arthur Alan Eppert was born on July 22, 1945, the son of D. Paul “Pete” and Luceil (Rainbolt) Eppert in Boone, IA. He graduated from United Community High School in 1963.

Art was united in marriage with Dianne Lind on February 12, 1965. From this union were three children: Michelle, Michael, and Brian. The couple later divorced.

Art was a busy man throughout his life. He worked for Mabe Implement in his early years, as well as the Jordan Grain Elevator, until he was displaced after the Jordan tornado in 1976. Later that summer, he began working for Sunstrands (now Danfoss) as a hydraulics mechanic and also for Fareway Stores Inc. as a part-time truckdriver, working nearly 35 years for both companies until retiring in 2009. Even during his retirement, Art kept to a daily routine. He lived in his Arizona home from October to April, where he made many close friends in the community.

Art loved farming and tractors. He repaired old tractors, and collected toy tractors. He was a great cook and enjoyed grilling out for his friends and family. He always maintained an impressive garden and looked forward to canning any produce that the raccoons left for him. He also loved camping, riding Harley Davidsons and snowmobiles in his younger years, and taking care of his acreage.

Art was a character. He had every kind of hat you can think of – Crocodile Dundee, cowboy, trucker, and the list goes on. You could find Art in his bib overalls, crocs, and his walking stick. He even asked a friend to hem a pair of bib overalls so he could have shorts.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Dale, Wilbur, and Frank Eppert; sister, Jean Houston; and his faithful companions, Cody and Jake. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Eppert of Ames; sons, Michael Eppert of Boone and Brian Eppert of Ogden; grandchildren, Rachel Stiehm, Mikayla Eppert, Hannah Eppert, and Jayda Eppert; sisters, Mary Johnson of Boone, Katherine Huber of Loveland, CO, and Barbara (Marvin) Lytle of Spring, TX; sister-in-law, JoAnn Eppert of Luther; brother-in-law, Dan Houston of Waukee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Art’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Art Eppert Family for later designation.
