BOONE, Iowa—A press release from the Boone County Convention and Visitors Bureau Wednesday, formally announced that the CVB Board of Directors had taken necessary action to complete the separation from the Boone County Chamber of Commerce:
The Boone County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Boards of Directors have announced the separation has been completed.
The goal of the CVB has been to grow and is now established at its new location at the Central Iowa Expo. The Boone County CVB, which is the Tourism Marketing Organization for Boone County, was under the umbrella of the Boone County Chamber of Commerce but now incorporated by the state and is ready to move forward with promoting tourism. Executive Director Kris Blocker shared, “With a new location and focus, I am ready to provide full-time tourism services. My goal is to bring people to Boone County to support all our attractions and businesses. Tourism will boost economic growth and prosperity in our county.”
Boone County Convention & Visitors Bureau was established in 1994. The organization receives the majority of its funding from the City of Boone’s hotel/motel tax. Oversight for the CVB is provided by its Board of Directors.
