BOONE, Iowa—Celebrate Pufferbilly Days™ Opening Ceremonies before the festival begins, at First Thursdays on August 5! This event features live music by The Bushmen, the Boone County Farmers’ Market, food trucks and craft vendors, plus beer and root beer from Boone Valley Brewing Co. The fun kicks off at 5pm with the presentation of the Community Service Award and presentation of the Pufferbilly Days™ Parade Grand Marshal, Sally Courter, at 5:30pm. First Thursdays is a free event with food, beer and root beer, and craft and merchandise available for purchase.
On Friday, check out the photo contest display in the KWBG window, grab lunch at the food court, and enjoy carnival fun from 11am-11pm – all day long! This year’s carnival uses a punch card system – each ride takes a certain number of punches from the card. Purchase your punch card downtown during the festival for carnival fun Friday through Sunday! The beer tent opens at 5pm with free karaoke, then bingo kicks off at 6pm at Veterans Park before Burnin’ Sensations takes the stage for the Friday night headliner at 7:30pm. There is no cost for the entertainment area. Food from the food vendors and beer from the beer tent is available for cash purchase. Make sure to check out the new beers available from Boone Valley Brewing Co. on Friday night only at the beer tent!
Saturday brings the festival favorite Pufferbilly Days™ Parade, which starts at 9:30am. The parade will begin on Hancock drive, turn north on Story Street, then west on 8th Street. This is a familiar route to parade watchers from recent years. The craft vendors will be across Story Street, with many new vendors participating this year. Enjoy the food court, carnival, electric trolley rides, train rides, and several contests including the bags tournament, spelling bee, spike driving contest, lip sync contest, and bingo! Plus, sign up now for the 5k or 10k fun run, which starts at the 8th & Story Greenspace at 7:30pm on Saturday night. Saturday’s live music lineup in the entertainment area includes happy hour music at 3pm by Boone local, Hawk McIntyre, followed by classic rock artists Section 7 Band at 7:30pm.
On Sunday, compete in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament or mud volleyball tournament. A church service will be held at Veterans Park, followed by the pet show. Then, check out the camp games and activities at Family Fun Day, shop the craft fair, and grab lunch at the food court before the amateur talent contest at the 8th & Story Greenspace. Pufferbilly Days™ closes at 3pm on Sunday.
