BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Diane Patrick is announcing that Candidate Filing for the Regular City and School Board Election, which will be held November 2nd , begins August 23rd and ends September 16th. Nomination papers are filed with their respective School Board Secretary and/or City Clerks
Individuals wishing to run for school board member will need to fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy Form and a Nomination Petition containing signatures of eligible electors. The number of signatures required varies based on the number of registered voters as of May 1st for each school district. Those wishing to run for school board member in Boone will need 107 signatures, in Madrid will need 29 signatures, in Ogden will need 29 signatures and in United will need 22 signatures. Patrick recommends that all candidates get more than the required number of signatures in case some signatures don’t count based on acceptance guidelines. Forms are available at the Auditor’s Office, on the Iowa Secretary of State’s Web site at https://sos.iowa.gov or from the school board secretaries and city clerks.
Candidates must file nomination paperwork by 5:00 PM on September 16th with their respective city clerks and/or school board secretary.
Positions that will be voted upon in each school district are as follows:
Boone – 2 Board Members At Large
Madrid – 2 Board Members At Large
Ogden – 2 Board Members At Large
United – 1 Board Member – District #2 & 1 Board Member At Large
Positions that will be voted upon in each city are as follows:
Boone – Mayor – 1st, 3rd, 5th Ward Council Members – 1 Member At Large – 3 Park Board Members
Madrid – 1st, 3rd Ward Council Members – 1 Member At Large
Ogden – Mayor – 2 Members At Large
Beaver – 3 Members At Large
Boxholm – 3 Members At Large
Luther – 2Memberes At Large
Pilot Mound – 2 Members At Large
