DES MOINES, Iowa—The process of redistricting legislative boundaries has begun in Iowa. The nonpartisan Legislative Services Agency presented to the Iowa House and Senate it’s first plan for redistricting. The package includes maps, a copy of the bill that spells out detailed boundaries and methods used to put the first plan together, including the standards, population and deviations that entered into the plan.
Beginning next Monday, the Temporary Redistricting Advisory Commission will hold virtual public hearings to gather input on the first plan. Those hearings will be held next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Commission will then have less than two-weeks to present the legislature with a report of the public input.
The Special Session on the first plan is scheduled for October 5th.
